Lower Wacker

When the area around Chicago was first explored by Marquett, Joliet and their homeboys were looking for a passage from the Great Lakes to the inland waterway, the Mississippi. Here they found a great marsh with wild onions. Chicago has been continually backfilling this marsh to create the city you see today. As the city has grown it has built on itself. Next time you are downtown and see construction on the sidewalk look in and you will see another sidewalk below! This is how lower and lowerest Wacker came to be. Yes Virginia there is another lower level to Wacker.
