This year our show was held at the Douglas Ried
Folgelson Gallery in Wicker Park. One of the obvious benefits of
having the show in such a place was that when we were installing
the show we had our choice of both Wicker Dog and Hi Ricky. Food
from the best of both worlds. Greasy and heart burn inducing to
healthy and Epicurean in the same block or two. The gallery space
lent itself very well to our instalations. With one large room and
a smaller darkened space we were riding our last miles down hill
and with a tailwind. All of the large and performance pieces were
placed in the middle with the rest of the wall and pillar space
taken up smaller works of every kind. In the darkend area we had
two pieces of multimedia playing. On a laptop we had the Autumnal
Equinox Ambush QuickTime movie. On the mini-tower that Ed built
for me we had an AVI file playing back pixel doubled utilizing hardware
decompression playing through a data projector. Audio on the laptop
was non existent because I was tired of hearing it. By the time
you read this you should be able to see the Halloween
1998 video here.
Jim R. was kind enough to get invitations printed. Chris of Rapid
Transit bike shop stepped up to help the cause to pay for printing
of the invitation. As I type this it is almost a month and a half
later and I learned that Chris is now closing the shop at 5:00pm
on the last Friday of the month so everyone at the shop can ride
with the mass. You can find this excellent shop at North Avenue
and...well just do what I do, look for the pinwheel bike hanging
in front of the shop.
