We got to San Francisco about 11:00 on Tuesday and went right
to my old friend Mark and Shawn's house. They have such great
kids I want to take them hoe with me!
Our first day in San Francisco we decided to ride across the
Golden Gate Bridge and to the Larkspur Ferry for the trip back
to San Francisco where we hopped on the BART and went home.
When we were almost across the bridge I had a front flat. This
was caused by the fact that my friend Tom
never got to the rim strips. We got the flat fixed an started
to head for the first bike shop. I made it almost all of the
way before I got a flat in the back. We bought strips and put
them all back together while talking to a guy who rode down
from British Columbia. When we got it all back together we found
that I also needed a tyre. Ed went back to the shop, which was
across the beach from where we were working, and got a new tyre.
After we got it all together we headed out toward the ferry.
In Northern California nothing is a straight line so we decided
to take the most circuitous route we could find. The flower
pictures were taken on this back road that was almost deserted.
When we got to the ferry landing we bought tickets for the a
ferry a couple of hours later so we could grab a bit before
we went home. As it turned out we got to ride on the newest
ferry in the fleet, a high speed catamaran. Ed and I were the
only people on the back deck enjoying the sun and salt air.
I got so much sun today that I was really red the next day.
